AN EXCEPTIONAL DUO
Winemaking and sustainability go hand in hand
From the outset Domaine d’O has wanted to participate in the fight against climate change and produce Carbon Friendly wines.
The environment has a symmetric relationship with wine. The production process affects the environment, which in turn affects the crops and thus winemaking as a whole.
How to participate in this up-hill battle was a question we wrestled with, for there is a plethora of standards, regulations and certifications that one can adhere to. Complicated for a small structure as ours, however we want to contribute and do the right thing.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Desire for environmental respect
Ultimately and after much research, we found that the PAS 2050 standard was most aligned with our targets. We used this standard as a guideline to analyze and calculate the carbon footprint associated with a bottle of Domaine d’O (705 gr/CO² per bottle).
We work our dry good suppliers and optimize production in order to offset our carbon footprint, but as a direct solution we have opted to offset these GHG emissions with tree planting.
TIME FOR ACTION
PARTNERSHIP
In order to achieve this, we have partnered with sustainable forestry companies which plants trees and tracks their carbon absorption rates. Once the trees have passed their prime absorption rates they are cut down and sent to sawmills and the vacant land is used to plant new trees.

OUR COMMITMENT
CARBON FRIENDLY
In a world of certifications, rules and regulations we decided to create our own Carbon Friendly logo. No government stamps or certifying institutions: Just our commitment to offset the carbon footprint of a bottle of Domaine d’O by planting trees.
